A 32-year old female cashier of the Redeemed Christian Church of God,  House of Glory Parish Ilupeju, Lagos, Adeyemi Olufemi, has been arrested and charged for allegedly stealing N129,750 belonging to the church.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the Church’s parish located at Johnson Street, Ilupeju area of the State.According to the Police, the female cashier was alleged to have between December 2023 and January, 2024, tempered with the money realized from the church activities before the management later discovered.

She was said to have been interrogated and she admitted to have done so before she was handed over to the Police at Ilupeju Division for prosecution over her criminal conduct, which attracts several years of imprisonment.However, she pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned at the Ogba Magistrate Court.The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O Osunsanmi, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the defendant confessed and offered to resolve the matter amicably out of the Police Station and the Court, but the management insisted that they wanted justice by prosecuting her to serve as deterrent to others who might want to do such in future.
